c2c rumbles on ... a flashback

Looking through some old photos, as one does when 'of a certain age' I came across a reminder of earlier perambulations on the North York Moors, circa 1962/3.  Almost 50 years ago, now those were the days, I reckon I could have seen the c2c off in no time :o) - if it had existed!

1962 - About halfway on the Lyke Walk at Hamer House - a group of Middlesbrough Area Telephone Engineers trying to keep warm just as dawn is breaking.

  2. Thank you for a wonderful account of your Coast to Coast adventure. I am doing the walk this September (2012) to celebrate/defy my 60th birthday and found your experience, recommendations of where to stay and eat and photos of inclement weather very helpful ! I had only seen photos of bright sunny days in other accounts I had read. I am travelling from Sydney Australia and I want to have a realistic expectation of the weather so I can be fully prepared. After looking at your pics I am packing some warmer clothes!! A few years ago I tried to get some friends interested in doing the Lake Wyke Walk with me but had no takers. And I'm so envious of where you live. I visited Tuscany when I visited Italy to do a walk on the Amalfi Coast ..... wonderful memories !! Walking is such a great way to see the world.
